Some big changes are happening at KKV’s Judd Medical Clinic! It’s been a long time coming, but after more than 20 years, the clinic is getting some much-needed upgrades. You may have already noticed some differences at the clinic, but there is still much more to come.
This past spring, renovations to the third floor of the clinic were the first to be completed. Visual work included resurfacing the floor, applying a fresh coat of paint, and updating cabinets and medical supplies in all exam rooms. Our technology systems also received an upgrade by switching to all fiber optics. “This is making our connection faster, more stable, and expanding our reach,” said KKV Project Development Manager Raymond Chan, who has been at the forefront of the renovation process.

This summer, the next phase of the renovations is set to begin. This phase is expected to be a lot bigger and include more moving parts, as several departments are going to be relocated. “We’re playing musical chairs now,” said KKV COO Yuet Mui Kong. “KKV continues to grow, we need more space. New programs are popping up, and old ones are growing. This is all to better serve our patients.” During this next phase, work will be done to the second floor of the Judd Clinic. The biggest movements include the Na Koa clinic moving up to the second floor, and the pharmacy moving over to the Judd Clinic from the Wellness Center. “We tried to keep the workflow in mind,” said Mui. “We worked really hard to accommodate all departments and making visits easier for our patients.” This project is expected to be completed by the fall.
Another change beginning this summer is our new extended hours. Our clinics will be open later to better meet our community’s needs. To do this, we will be implementing more safety measures for our staff, including emergency preparedness training, installing more security cameras and outdoor lights, and offering more secure staff parking. In addition, we will be hiring a variety of positions to cover the extended hours.

KKV is also aiming to become more sustainable. Expected to begin in the fall, we will have solar panels and a battery system installed. With this technology, our facilities will still be able to run in case of a power outage. “The hope is we’ll be able to work anytime, any day,” said Raymond.
KKV is excited about the many changes that are coming to our facilities. These projects have been years in the making, and so much thought and work has gone into making a better experience for our patients and community. “The workflow will be better, the relocations of some departments will make more sense for everyone,” said Mui. Raymond adds, “we were really aiming for convenience, a better experience, look and feel. Everyone is working hard behind the scenes.” We would like to mahalo our staff for remaining flexible and accommodating the many changes during this time. And a huge mahalo to our patients for your patience and understanding during this transition period for KKV. We can’t wait to better serve our community with the many upgrades to come!
