“I am now delivering babies from women who I delivered when I started at KKV. The relationships with our patients are so important and continue to fill my life with joy.” Dr. DeVilbiss

Dr. Laura Carr DeVilbiss

KKV’s Clinical Director & Patient Warrior

Kind and generous are two words that characterize KKV’s Clinical Director, whose calm, thoughtful, and caring demeanor is reflected equally in her bedside manner with patients and in her management of staff.

Originally from Boston, Massachusetts, Dr. Laura joined KKV in 1997 as a National Health Service Corps Scholar and as a family medicine physician. She finished her three-year service obligation in 2000 and stayed on to become KKV’s Clinical Director in 2003. Her work now balances between outpatient, inpatient, obstetric care and administrative duties.

Dr. Laura’s interest in cross cultural medicine started when she worked as a short-term medical missionary in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Africa, for two years prior to going to medical school at the George Washington School of Medicine, Washington, DC.

She is a professional member of the American Academy of Family Physicians and the Christian Medical and Dental Association.  Dr. Laura has been active with the Hawaii Academy of Family Physicians, serving in leadership positions on both the HAFP board and the HAFP Foundation board.  She has also served on the boards of three local hospitals.
