From the 1976-77 Annual Report

“The increase in Health Center services directly affected the community aides who form the core of this organization.  There were greater demands for language and follow-up services with increased patient visits. In addition, our aides continue to respond to the needs of new and previously known families, the local school, and Lanakila public health nurses.

Staffing of the Community Aides Program underwent a change toward the end of the fiscal year.  Mrs. Young Soon Suh, Korean outreach worker, was able to locate her replacement, Mrs. Hyun Sook Yoon, prior to her departure to the mainland. Nga Vuong, Indo-Chinese outreach worker, left for a position as a dental plaque instructor with a private dental office, and Violeta Ancheta, Filipino outreach worker, departed for another position.  Yolanda Padua, SCET-funded outreach worker-lab assistant, was left to assist the Filipino residents.

With the establishment of full-time dental services, Merina Sapolu, Samoan outreach worker-dental assistant was involved for several months in the administrative concerns of the dental clinic. Fortunately, Mrs. Tuvae Sokimi, Samoan resident, was very willing to serve as a volunteer-outreach worker to lighten Merina’s duties, and historically, is the first resident to volunteer at KKV.
