WHATʻS HAPPENING WITH MEDICAID (MED-QUEST)?
Changes to Medicaid (Med-QUEST) are coming, and we want to help our neighbors and ʻohana stay informed and connected to care.
Starting January 1, 2027, new federal requirements may affect how some adults ages 19 to 64 qualify for Medicaid coverage. We know that understanding these changes can feel confusing, but you don't have to figure it out alone.
We're here to help you understand what's changing, what it may mean for you and your ʻohana, and what steps you can take to keep your healthcare coverage.
We're here for you. We got you covered.
WHATʻS CHANGING?
New Requirements - Some adults will need to meet new work, volunteer, or school requirements to continue receiving Medicaid coverage. Certain individuals may be exempt from these requirements. To learn more about who may be exempt, visit the Hawaiʻi Med-QUEST website for a complete up-to-date list.
More Frequent Renewals - For those affected by the new rules, Medicaid eligibility will need to be renewed every 6 months instead of once a year.
WHAT CAN I DO NOW?
Update Your Information - Set up online acces to your existing Med-QUEST account. Be sure to keep your address, phone number and email current. Visit Med-QUESTʻs online portal to confirm your contact info.
Read Your Notices - It may look like junk mail but it isnʻt! Open and read all notices and be sure to follow up on any instructions or requests.
Get Ready - If you work, be sure to save your paystubs. If you donʻt have a paystub, but have proof of $580 of monthly income, save that proof of income. If you are enrolled in an educational program at least half time, ask your school for an official proof of enrollment.
Ask For Help - Talk with KKV’s Eligibility Team and ask questions about how these upcoming changes may affect you and your ʻohana.
