Life giving One;

When virus continues to threaten us, how can we sing a song of healing?

When violence traumatizes us, how can we sing a song peace?

When hatred shakes us, how can we sing a song of hope?

When fear numbs us, how can we sing a song of love?

When death in our family, neighbors and community overwhelms us, how can we sing a song of life?

But on one early dawn, Love cannot contain death, Light defies darkness, and Life wins.

Returning to Our Roots - Ehuola

It was exactly a year ago that we had to suspend our Ehuola intersession week due to COVID. Since then we have been developing hōkeo, take home curriculum for the ohana that include mo`olelo, historical knowledge, identification games which teach our keiki how to identify native plants, recipes, and family discussion prompts around cultural foods and practices. We just completed our Spring break in-person sessions with the keiki - click here to see what we did.

Cultural Dishes to mark the season

Piko o Wākea or spring equinox marks the beginning of a new season and the end of another.  During this time of transition, we find strength in our cultural practices and connection to our ancestors.  To celebrate our eldest kūpuna, Hāloa, the staff at Hoʻoulu ʻĀina created several unique recipes using kalo.
