Primary Medical Care – Family and general medicine, OB/GYN, pediatrics, geriatrics, testing, screening, physical examinations, immunizations, laboratory, comprehensive inpatient services

Dental Services – Exams, cleaning, fluoride treatment, dental sealants, fillings, extractions, root canal therapy, crowns, bridges and dentures

Behavioral Health and Substance Abuse Services – Early diagnosis, assessment, case management and treatment of mental and substance-related disorders; health education

Maternal and Child Health (perinatal, family planning, nutrition/WIC) – Child birth, parenting support, medical and psychosocial risk assessment, counseling, pregnancy testing, PAP smear exam and follow-up, supplemental food coupons, nutrition counseling, support

Public Housing – Increasing access to KKV health services and programs, referral assistance to other community resources, home visits, case management, counseling, education and advocacy

Elderly Services – Health maintenance with education, socialization, exercise and congregant dining, caregiver support and respite care, Senior Companion program site, case management

Youth Services – Sports and recreation, cultural programs, academic tutoring, teen pregnancy and substance abuse prevention, school-based health clubs, leadership development

Preventive Health Care – Breast and cervical cancer control, diabetes education and action, active living by design including the K-Vibe bike exchange and Kalihi Valley Nature Park

Enabling and Support – Community-wide outreach and health education, eligibility assistance, translation and interpretation, transportation

 

A Nationally-Recognized Leader in Community Health Care

In 1997, KKV’s Perinatal program received the Hawaii State Achievement Award from the Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies Coalition of Hawaii for its Perinatal Outreach Education Initiative. In 2001, KKV was awarded by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services as a National Community Center of Excellence in Women’s Health, one of only 12 National Community Centers of Excellence throughout the country. KKV’s Advanced Education in General Dentistry Residency Program, established in 2002, is the first in Hawaii , and has brought approximately $1,260,000 in free services to low-income communities in Hawaii over the last 5 years.
